Donington Park’s annual celebration of two-wheeled motor racing heritage, the CRMC Classic Motorcycle Festival, returns for two prime summer days of entertainment.
One of the biggest events of its kind in Europe, this meeting recreates the atmosphere of bike racing from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, as hundreds of motorcycles from that period descend on the East Midlands for a bumper race programme.
The Classic Racing Motorcycle Club will deliver a packed programme of over 40 races, including rounds of the ACU Classic and Post Classic Championships, plus classic sidecars and more.
An attention grabbing display area on the Melbourne Hairpin section will contain historic bike and Grand Prix machinery, representing over 60 years of racing history. Star attractions include Kenny Roberts' Proton V5 four stroke from the early MotoGP era, while the 100th anniversary of Moto Guzzi will be commemorated with an assortment of road and race bikes including the machine that won the 1962 Argentinian Grand Prix. The Norton Owners Club will be putting on a special display of racing bikes associated with the late CRMC Patron, Peter Williams.
To also mark the circuits 90th anniversary of the first event race meeting in 1931, the actual bike that won the first race 90 years ago (350cc Raleigh) will be back at Donington on display in Garage 39 bar and restaurant.
